Unfortunately, there are many people suffering from substance use disorder in the state of Indiana. In 2017, 29.4 out of 100,000 people were suffering from some form of substance use disorder. That’s statically higher than the national average of 21.7 out of 100,000.

The recovery process aims to transcend mere cessation from consuming addictive substances. In other words, there is a higher purpose than just stopping an addict from drinking or using drugs.

Methadone is a legal opioid used for both pain treatment and as a therapy for people recovering from an opioid addiction, such as one to heroin. Methadone is, however, like most opioids, extremely addictive. When prescribed in a professional treatment facility as a maintenance therapy, any addiction formed is curbed and ended.

Xanax is a drug used to treat anxiety and/or panic disorders. It’s not an opioid – it’s part of a drug class called benzodiazepines, AKA benzos. Xanax is the most frequently prescribed psychoactive drug in America. Treatments vary between 0.25mg and 2mg pills, two or three times a day.

The number of senior citizens aged 65 and above across the U.S. was around 43.1 million as per the 2012 census. It is estimated that by 2050 the number could grow significantly to reach at least 80 million.
